Site map & the chosen building

Located in the heart of Toronto at 18 Orde Street, I N F U S E is a facility that involves the whole cycle of blood collection, distribution and transfusion.

The facility involves blood donors, staff and patients with various blood disorders (Ex: Thalassemia, Sickle Cell, Diamond Black-fan, Aplastic, Fanconi and Hemolytic Anemia).

Patients need frequent blood transfusions, iron chelating therapies, extensive medication in some cases, and they require constant treatment in order to survive. Since patients are going to be visiting the facility often I wanted to create a place to inspire and allow others to appreciate the little wonders of nature.

I N F U S E is not only about the health transition of patients and donors, but also about the inner connection with one’s body to the surrounding environment. Donors will be inspired by the interior gardens that run from the ground up to the roof, while patients will have a place to be at peace with themselves, and a place where they don’t have to hide who they are. Staff will have laboratories and facilities filled with natural light that will brighten up their souls, as they are the integral part in facilitating the whole flow of blood.

But I N F U S E is mainly sharing my story with YOU...

Model Making

A 3-D physical representation

Building a model that told the story of the heritage of the original building was a must.

Sensitive materials and natural colours were used to show the beauty I was able to see every time I looked at the real building, and so the model should be a full representation of that. Nothing more and nothing less.
